Installation

So,  we decided to screw three brackets to the wall. The lower bracket has 4 legs and will be the turning point for the antenna mast. via a big screw. The top and middle brackets have three legs. All brackets securely screwed to the wall of the house.

See  the pictures,....

In the last picture above we connected the mast to the lower bracket. The next job is to find a good place for the winch.

Time for the antenna to put together. See the pictures. We dug a hole in the ground of about 1 meter deep and put the rotating part of the mast into the ground, so it is pretty stable. The boom was attached to the mast and then all the radiators, reflectors and directors were attached to the boom. It gave us a good idea how big the antenna is, and a good feel of the weight ! After the antenna was complete we tried to lift the whole structure. That is of course possible, but it is to heavy to keep in balance for one person. Good to know for the following steps,...

After finishing all the connections we met the impedance of the antenna for all three bands. See chapter measurements. From the roof it looks like,....  We modified the fitting of the Balun to the boom, so no rain is falling into the Coax plug. The plug is now at the bottom of the Balun housing. After connecting the Coax cable to it we can tape it fully water proof with the 'rubber' tape.

Hans is putting the top bearing to the mast, and after that I screwed the rotor to the mast.

Ok, all checked. The antenna is going in the air. We placed the antenna with a few man in the right position to screw is to the mast. Before that we removed the director and reflector to make sure they are not damaged by the movements.

After connecting the antenna, we lifted the antenna a little and connected the reflector. Then we rotated the antenna 180 degrees and connected the director again to the boom.

After that the coax was connected and nicely fixed to the mast./

Then it was very easy to lift the whole antenna into the air. The construction was doing very well and when the antenna was in the wright position it was screwed to the other two brackets in the wall. Putting the three guy ropes on there place and all was safe.

See all the pictures,.....
